Line-Up Set for Saturday's Pop-Up @ Kearny

Get ready for an incredible Media Training Pop-Up @ Kearny on June 8th! 

This is a fantastic community event you won't want to miss. Come see a sample of the great talent we have in the region and the types of film and media training opportunities there will be once renovations are completed and we can launch our training programs!

There will be a craft services table (snacks), a raffle from amazing local businesses that donated prizes like Gate City Craft Bar, 111 Park Cafe, Colfax Ale Cellar, K-Bob's Steakhouse, Pappas’ Sweet Shop, and Bruno's Pizza and Wings.

There might even be a few surprises...

So come check out the fun and see Kearny before we start renovations!

Senator Leger Fernandez Visits Kearny

On May 30th, Senator Leger Fernadez visited Kearny school to present something huge: A check for $3M dollars to the City of Raton to go to the restoration of the building that will be the future home of Raton's Media Workforce Training Center.


Screening of "The Forgotten Occupation"

Filmmaker Alain Martin visited the El Raton Theater on June 1st for a screening of his debut film, "The Forgotten Occupation." Following the screening, Pastor Lisa Jo Bezner facilitated an insightful Q&A with Alain. ERMW captured the event and will share where to watch when it's completed! 


May's Media Networking Event

Another great event with Raton's creative community!

May 12th we met at the Isabel Castillo Performing Arts and Events Center for our monthly networking event. James Cordova, Beki Laird and Sarah O'Brien provided us with some hilarious improv prompts as an activity, and we discussed the local community opportunities, unions, and shared some of our favorite film and TV programs. NERVES

Wrapping Up the Inaugural SFCC/RHS Video Dual Credit Video Production Course with the Premiere of "NERVES"

That's a Wrap! "Nerves" is the final film created by students in our Santa Fe Community College / Raton High School dual credit Video Production course and it is now live on YouTube Check it out! We are super proud of our young filmmakers!

”Nerves” was written and directed by Christian Padilla. In the short film, socially awkward James prepares for a disastrous meeting with Susan's dad, while she reassures him with a confidence he wishes he possessed. Student Actors: David Valdez and Mavis Zamarripa. Student Crew: Christeana Piancino and Kaydence Trujillo.

Local Highlights of the Month

Sarah O’Brien has 21+ years experience in live music and events production specializing in theater and stage rigging and installation as well as experience as warehouse manager for ILIOS Productions in Austin TX and as lead rigger. She is knowledgable about unions and recently shared her insight with us during June's Networking Mixer!

Blue Sky Ranch is an equine ranch, that also has other animals as well. Blue Sky provides animal education and community support programs for the community. They do animal training and also train humans how to ride horses.

Historic Maxwell, NM was established in 1879 as a railroad town on the Atchison, Topeka, and Santa Fe Railway and is located South of Raton, NM.

Santa Fe Community College is an affordable, high quality college with resources and workshops for all New Mexicans. In Raton, students can earn certificate programs by enrolling through Raton High School in a two year program.
